Doriane Pin takes the win in Race 1 in Miami after a race full of action.

The French Prema driver fought off her competitors in what was a very eventful race to stand on the podium for the third time in Race 1 this season.

Despite putting the pressure on in the final lap, Alisha Palmowski has to settle for second with her teammate and tomorrow's polesitter Chloe Chambers coming home in third - a great weekend for the Campos team so far who will be looking to challenge in the Constructor's championship.

Maya Weug finished in P4 after making up six places from the start - a good result for the MP Motorsport driver.

As it happened

The reverse grid format that has been introduced into the series for the first of the two races in the weekend for the 2025 season has been providing great action in the race and today was no different.

Lights out with the sun back shining saw reverse grid polesitter Emma Felbermayr have a great start to the race, keeping Rafaela Ferreira at bay behind her going into Turn 1.

Mclaren's Ella Lloyd had a lock up going into the breaking zone for Turn 1, causing her to go into the back of   and sent her into the run off area. She had to retire from the race and the stewards noted the incident between Lloyd and Ferreira for causing a collision.

Green flag was shown and the safety car came into the pits on Lap 3 and racing got going again. Felbermayr dealt with the restart well but Pin was hot on her heels and looking to take the lead.

Pin takes the lead at the end of Lap 3 after a great battle between herself and Felbermayr but it's not long before Pin is looking at the back of the Rodin Motorsport car once again as Felbermayr retakes the lead at the start of Lap 4.

A huge lock up for Felbermayr allowed Pin to capitalise and take the lead on Lap 5. Unfortunately, the Austrian was left tumbling down the order and ended up in P6 behind Maya Weug.

Palmowski takes second on Lap 6 with a brilliant pass on the ART of Aurelia Nobels.

Joanne Ciconte is noted for a false start as she was believed to have started out of position and this was to be looked at by the stewards.

The safety car made a return on Lap 6 after a collision between Joanne Ciconte, Chloe Chong, and Nicole Havrda going into Turn 10. The incident saw Ciconte sustain hefty damage to her left rear suspension and the damage left her out of the race.

Felbermayr was shown a black and orange flag due to the extent of the damage on her car, meaning she had to return to the pits to get the issue resolved. This put an end to her hopes of scoring decent points after such a strong start to the race.

Despite making it back to the pits initially following the incident, Chong was also forced to retire the car due to a broken steering arm - a big shame for the British driver.

Racing got back underway on Lap 10 of 13 and Pin leads Alisha Palmowski going into the latter stages of Race 1.

Chambers made a great move on Nobels through Turns 10, 11, and 12 to put herself into the podium places on Lap 10. Nobels is then passed again on Lap 11 by championship leader Maya Weug who had made great progress through the field after starting in 10th.

Things went bad to worse for Nobels as she drops down to sixth on Lap 12 after being passed by her ART teammate Lia Block.

Chequered flag was waved and it was Pin who saw it first despite Palmowski piling on the pressure on the last lap. It however wasn't quite enough for the win this time.

Lia Block was handed a five-second penalty post race due to leaving the track and gaining an advantage.

Chloe Chambers goes fastest in qualifying in tricky conditions at the Miami International Autodrome to secure back-to-back Pole positions.

The American driver set a 2:00.458, leading the way ahead of her Campos teammate Alisha Palmowski in P2 and Doriane Pin in P3.

Only seven hundredths of a second separated the top four with Ella Lloyd joining Pin on the second row for Race 2 on Sunday.

Championship leader Maya Weug will start in P1 for Race 1 later on today due to the reverse grid format.

As it happened

Green light was shown at the end of the pitlane to get the 30 minutes of qualifying underway. Out of the ordinary for F1 Academy to qualify on a Saturday, but with threats of rain lingering, it was sure to be an interesting session.

Chloe Chambers was the first to put a time on  the board and took the first provisional pole of the session for Campos Racing, continuing a great weekend for her so far after showing great pace in both practice sessions. She beat Palmowski to P1 by just 0.018s!

The rain made it's entrance shortly after in full force and it was clear that track position and early laps were going to be crucial for the drivers and precision was key.

Drivers were struggling with the conditions out on track with Turn 11 proving the lethal point for many of the drivers.

Chambers was able to secure Pole with conditions effecting the amount of running that other drivers were able to get in and many times remaining unchanged.

Palmowski made it 1-2 for the Campos team with Doriane Pin slotting into P3 for Prema.

Be sure to stay tuned for Race 1 later on today which will be taking place at 14.55 local time (19:55 UK time).

Maya Weug goes fastest in the second Free Practice session in Miami.

The championship leader set a time of 1:58.545 to top the timesheets ahead of Chloe Chambers and Nina Gademan in P2 and P3 respectively.

Ella Lloyd set the benchmark time, just as she did in the first Free Practice session going fastest with a 2:01.356.

Yellow flags flew when wildcard entry for Round 3 Ava Dobson locked up on cold tyres and ended up going into the back of Lia Block's ART and sent her into a spin at Turn 1, an incident that was decided to be investigated after the session due to causing a collision.

Maya Weug was the first to break into the 1:59s, but Campos Racing's Chloe Chambers was quick to claim the top spot as hers, putting in a 1:59.647.

Doriane Pin then also joined the party, going 0.080s faster than her former teammate Weug. Reaching the halfway point the top three was as follows: Doriane Pin, Maya Weug, and Chloe Chambers.

The grid then moved onto their practice runs for tomorrow's qualifying and Aurelia Nobels put in a great lap to put her ART in P4.

Chambers was quick to storm to the top with her practice qualifying lap with a blistering 1:58.284 and Weug couldn't do enough this time round and settled for second.

However, despite a lock up towards the end of her flying lap, Weug manages to take P1 with a great lap time for the Ferrari academy driver. She finishes ahead of Chloe Chambers who had a great session and was pushing Weug all the way to the chequered flag.

It's all to play for in qualifying tomorrow!

Doriane Pin goes quickest in the first Free Practice session as F1 Academy returns for Round 3 in Miami.

The French driver set a time of 1:59.153 and finished ahead of Alisha Palmowski and championship leader Maya Weug.

It was Mclaren junior driver Ella Lloyd who was the one to put the first time of the session on the board, setting the benchmark at 2:03.038.

Ten minutes into the session and Lloyd was still remained at the top of the timesheet for Rodin Motorsport whilst Pin and Lia Block were hot on her heels.

Block was then next to take her place at the top, topping Lloyd's time around the Miami circuit. However, the American wasn't there for long before Pin put in a blistering lap and was the first driver of the day to set a time below the 2 minute mark whilst the Campos teammates Alisha Palmowski and Chloe Chambers battled it out for P2 and P3.

The 11 rookies on the grid took their time to get to grips with the Miami streets with a few drivers pushing it a bit too far over the limit. VCARB-backed Rafaela Ferreira spun in the frist sector but managed to avoid contact and continue with the session. Nicole Havrda and Alba Larsen also had their moments with Havrda going too far onto the kerbs and Larsen having a near miss with the wall.

At the halfway point, Pin was still leading the pack with an improved time of 1:59.622. Lloyd was still following on in second, with Chambers finishing off the top three in the Campos. Nina Gademan sat in P4, putting herself into the top ranks, and Tina Hausmann wrapped up the top five.

10 minutes to go saw Lloyd return to the top of the times with an impressive 1:59.592 - just 0.030 faster than Pin.

It wasn't long before Pin returned to the top though, the Prema driver set a 1:59.288 to put herself back on top. Meanwhile, Maya Weug had gone relatively under the radar in the first session and was third fastest 0.454 behind Pin.

The chequered flag was waved and Pin finished fastest after a competitive session and it is all to play for in the second Free Practice session in Miami.
