"I am delighted that we have been able to recruit Mattia Binotto for our ambitious Formula 1 project." The switch of leadership will see the 54-year old take on the newly created role of Chief Operating and Chief Technical Officer, which should him oversee the running of the team, according to F1 journalist Lawrence Barretto. Along with Andreas Seidl being replaced, Oliver Hoffmann has parted ways with Audi too. Hoffmann moved roles from his initial role of head of Audi's Technical Department to the newly-created position of General Representative. However, after just four months in the General Representative role, he has parted ways with the project. On explaining the restructure of the hierarchy, Audi CEO Dollner said: "Our aim is to bring the entire Formula 1 project up to F1 speed by means of clear management structures, defined responsibilities, reduced interfaces, and efficient decision-making processes. For this purpose, the team must be able to act independently and quickly. "I would like to thank Oliver and Andreas for their important work in establishing our entry into Formula 1 and their commitment in preparing it." Binotto may just help bring in the experience that Audi will want as they are bound to enter the F1 grid within the next two seasons, and a lot of excitement from fans has come about since the announcement they would be replacing the Sauber team on the grid. The 54-year old has had a lot of experience working in the Formula 1 world. With him being in Formula 1 for 25 years, Binotto certainyl understands the fundamentals of a Formula 1 team. Binotto took over from Maurizio Arrivabene as Team Principal of the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One Team. He first joined Scuderia Ferrari back in 1995 as part of the engine department, and was part of the engine department that oversaw great success in the early 2000s, with Michael Schumcher's championship glory. Since that role, he went onto become head of the engine department in 2013, replacing James Allison in becoming Chief Technical Officer of Ferrari in 2016. In his time in that role, Ferrari regularly competed for victories and Sebastian Vettel went on to challenge Lewis Hamilton for the 2017 and 2018 World Drivers Championships. Although Vettel would be unsuccessful, there is no doubt that Ferrari oversaw success in that role before in 2019 Binotto became their team principal. He stayed in the role of Team Principal until the end of the 2022 season, where he would leave and be replaced by current Team Principal Frederic Vasseur. Binotto has a wealth of experience and it could just be the signing that might make the difference as to where Audi will finding themselves competing in come the start of the 2026 season in replacement of the Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber.
