Feature Race

Hauger was on Pole for the 1st time in Formula 2 with Antonelli next to him on the front row also for the 1st time in his brief Formula 2 career and as the lights went out Hauger got a great start and all the cars made it through turn 1 without incident till Stanek spun at turn 5. Martins got a brilliant start and had made up 6 places by turn 5.
Bearman made a great move on Hadjar but couldn't keep the place just before his rookie team mate made a mega move for the lead, getting past Hauger but couldn't keep it for long with Hauger using the DRS to take the lead back the same lap.
Maloney was up to 3rd after passing Vershoor and was looking to catch the front 2 cars 1.5 seconds down the road.
Lap 4 Martins passed Durksen and was into the top 10 after starting on the back row.
Lap 6 Marti found the gravel at the exit of turn 12 losing places in the process, Maloney also made the same mistake letting Maini pass him for 3rd and as soon as he was released from behind Maloney, Maini was straight onto the back of Antonelli and wasted no time passing the rookie for 2nd place, a brilliant couple of laps for the Indian driver. Durksen brought out a Virtual Safety car when he went out of the race stuck on the grass and requiring recovery.

Lap 9 the track went green and Aron was straight on the attack with Maloney as Maini passed Hauger for the lead and we started to see the cars running the super soft tyres taking their mandatory pitstop, Hauger had a great stop while Prema did a top job of double stacking their cars, Maini stayed out in the lead with Hadjar in 2nd still needing to pit.
Lap 11 on his way out of the pits Hauger went straight on at turn 5, hitting the barrier  and throwing him on to the track just past turn 6, triggering another Virtual safety car, which benefited Hadjar greatly, allowing him to pit and get out in front of Antonelli before a full Safety car was called to recover Hauger's car and clear the debris from the track.
Under the Safety car and after some of the cars had made their stops it was Maini in the lead, Correa 2nd, Fittipaldi 3rd, Crawford 4th, Stanek, Barnard & Hadjar were 5th, 6th and 7th and Antonelli, Aron & Miyata completing the top 10. Maloney  was 12th, Bearman 17th, Martins was now 15th and everyone below Hadjar had made their mandatory Pitstop as the race resumed on lap 15.
Maini went very early to make a gap before turn 1 and was safe as Fittipaldi was under pressure from Crawford who passed at turn 5 followed by Stanek. Aron went for a move on Antonelli but couldn't get it done, Hadjar was all over the back of Fittipaldi on old tyres as Maloney was desperate to get past team mate Miyata as Vershoor pressured him from behind.
Lap 17 Hadjar passed Fittipaldi for 5th as Prema erged Antonelli to pass Barnard. Bearman and Marti made contact that dropped them to the back of the pack.
Lap 18 Maloney passed his Rodin team mate Mityata for 11th as Villagomez went off ahead of the pair handing them another place and putting Maloney up to 10th.
13 laps to go Maini was 2 seconds ahead of 2nd place man Correa both yet to pit. Aron made a very aggressive move on Antonelli to take what could become 2nd or 3rd after the pitstops are complete.
Maloney passed Barnard for 9th on lap 22 and was just 1.1 behind Antonelli and it was announced that the pass of Aron on Antonelli was under investigation by the Stewards along with the Bearman/Marti incident.
Taylor Barnard was really struggling on his tyres slowly dropping down the order as the cars with fresher rubber picked him off.
Picture
Lap 24 Fittipaldi had a look at Stanek into turn 1 but couldn't get it done and ended up going onto the gravel at turn 5 and dropping to 10th. Maloney had caught Antonelli for 7th but before he could make the move Antonelli passed Stanek for 6th, taking Maloney with him and dropping Stanek to 8th.
Lap 25 Maloney was passed Antonelli for 6th as Stanek and Fittipaldi found themselves back together on track but this time Fittipaldi passed his team mate as Stanek finally dove into the pits for fresh rubber rejoining in18th & last. (No further action for Aron/ Antonelli pass)
Maini in front was losing pace on his old tyres with Hadjar less than 6 seconds off the lead having pit earlier in the race.
Lap 28 Crawford passed Correa for 2nd but both still needed to make their stops. In the fight for the net lead Aron was catching Hadjar as he caught the last of the cars yet to pit and Bearman had a big spin after taking to much kerb into turn 1.
3 laps to go the top 3 of Maini, Crawford & Correa were yet to pit and Hadjar in 4th was just 1.3 seconds behind Correa when he finally dove into the pits coming back out in 15th. The next lap Crawford passed Maini at the front for the lead before both dove into the pits rejoining in 12th for Crawford and 13th for Maini.
Hadjar inherited the lead with Aron 2nd &, Maloney 3rd in front of Antonelli in 4th. Miyata had another strong race in 5th and Vershoor, Colapinto, Villagomez, Martins & Bearman completed the top 10. It was an emotional win for Hadjar after having his Sprint race win taken from him after a penalty was applied after the racejust 24 hours before.

On the way to the grid Fittipaldi was told he needed to return to the pitlane after hitting the wall yesterday and causing a yellow Flag and impeding other drivers laps.

Sprint Race

As the lights went green with Stanek on pole and Mclaren's Bortoleto next to him, Stanek got away well but behind him a big incident between the 2nd 3rd and 4th place cars of Bortoleto, Hadjar and Marti caused carnage as the grid tried to get away, Marti got a great launch and was sandwiched between Bortoleto on his right and Hadjar to the left and the 2  team mates touched pushing Marti into Bortoleto's Invicta car causing them to cash across the pit exit while Hadjar continued and managed to take the lead into turn 1 with Stanek 2nd in his Trident car and Aron & Maloney side by side till Aron took 3rd at turn 5 before a Safety car was called and the racing was suspended. Fittipaldi who was forced to start from the pitlane was unable to start his race with the 2 cars crashing into the Armco in front of him at the end of the pitlane.
Martins and Bearman had both made up places off the start and were 13th & 14th, Antonelli was up to 6th from 9th.

Lap 6 we got going again after just 9 corners of racing so far. Hadjar lead the pack around to the line weaving to try and get some heat into the tyres, Martins passed Durksen for 12th almost followed by Bearman at turn 4 but he couldn't get round him, Maloney had a snap on the rear into turn 6 and went off onto the gravel dropping him down 10th and the investigation into the start line incident with leader Issac Hadjar was announced to be investigated after the race.
Lap 8 the 2 Williams Academy drivers had a good battle with Colapinto taking 8th from Zak O'Sullivan. Maloney was desperately tying to recover from his mistake on lap 6 but was stuck behind his team mate Miyata.
Hadjar had pulled out an almost 4 second lead over Stanek in 2nd who was under pressure from Aron, Maini and Antonelli in 3rd, 4th and 5th.
Maini was done waiting for Aron to pass Stanek and made his move round the outside of turn 12 but Antonelli had seen a chance to jump them both and as they went almost 4 wide with Vershoor also seeing his chance to pass Aron as well. Maini, Antonelli & Vershoor all got the move done on Aron but came together as they all tried to make the next corner. Antonelli and Vershoor went into the corer side by side making the tiniest contact that sent Antonelli spinning off into the gravel trap, Aron was forced to the gravel to avoid being hit and Vershoor spinning the opposite way across the track and into the barrier. Aron continued but had damage to his car and fell back through the field, trying to get back to the pits
Lap 11 and under yellow flags for the incident between Antonelli, Vershoor and Aron the action didn't stop with the battle for 9th, 10th and 11th was really heating up between Championship leader Zane Maloney, Victor Martins, who was having a great drive from the back of the grid and Bearman who had also done well to climb up the field after a tough qualifying.
Maloney locked up making the move on Miyata but he made it up to 7th before Miyata came back at his Rodin team mate and reclaiming the place as Martins and Bearman were right on the back of Maloney, both passed him within corners of each other and were up to 8th & 9th when the 2nd Safety car was brought out for Antonelli's Prema to be recovered
When the race resumed on lap 15 Hadjar was 1st, Stanek 2nd, Maini 3rd, Hauger & Colapinto were 4th & 5th and O'Sullivan, Miyata, Martins, Bearman and Maloney made up the rest of the top 10.
This time Hadjar ran at turn 12 to try and make a gap back to Stanek and avoid a turn 1 move, Maini was straight on the back of Stanek but he couldnt make a move into turn 1, Aron was still going backward with debris stuck in his front wing before he pit to try and remove it.
After just 1 lap Hadjar had a 1.8 second lead over Stanek. Martins, Bearman and Maloney still ran together on track with all needing a decent points haul after interesting beginnings to the season for all 3.
Lap 17 Maloney had a look at Bearman but couldn't get past in to turn 1. Maini was desperately trying to pass  Stanek but his attempts just allowed MP team mates Hauger and Colapinto to close in. Maini got lucky for a moment that 2 were fighting between themselves with Colapinto radioing to the team to say he was faster than Hauger.
Lap 19 Martins passed O'Sullivan for 7th with Bearman close behind, he couldn't get passed on the first time of trying. Crawford had now joined the battle for 8th, 9t and 10th and was giving Maloney something to look for in his mirrors as he tried to keep the last point.
Lap 22 Hauger went round the outside of Maini to take 3rd in a mega move!
The final lap Bearman finally passed O'Sullivan and was up to 8th. Miyata was holding on to a strong finish in 6th and as Hadjar crossed the line he was 6 seconds ahead of Stanek who was chased to the line by Dennis Hauger. Maini came home 4th, Colapinto 5th, Miyata 6th and Martins, Bearman, O'Sullivan and Crawford completed the points scoring positions as Crawford passed Maloney at the end to take the last point available.
Unfortunately for Hadjar after the race he was given a 10 second penalty for the incident at the start and he was dropped to 6th in the standings promoting Stanek to 1st, Hauger 2nd and Maini 3rd. Bearman was also given a 10 second penalty for pushing another driver off the track which dropped him to 14th after such a strong drive from 15th to 8th.

Official F1 Journal Formula 2 Friday Round Up- Australia

Picture
Round 3 of 2024 and the grid is at Albert Park for the Australian Grand Prix weekend. Olli Bearman is back in his Prema F2 car after his mega Formula 1 debut in Jeddah after Qualifying on Pole in Formula 2 on the Thursday before his rapid call up to the Ferrari seat on Friday. Zane Maloney still leads the Championship by 15 points over Enzo Fittipaldi in 2nd. Antonelli despite a difficult start to the season for the Prema car managed to score in 3 of the 4 races he has participated in and is 10th in the standings.

Practice

Everyone was straight out on track for just the 2nd time in Australian since the series first raced at Albert Park in 2023 but it wasn't long before we saw the Red flag come out for Amery Cordeel who locked up his inside front tyre at turn1 and found himself beached in the gravel trap needing recovery and stopping the session while the clock continued to count down.
31 minutes on the clock and the session got going again with all the cars coming straight out to make the most of the rest of the only practice session of the weekend.
Bearman was straight to the top of the times, before being beaten by his team mate Antonelli and then both being bested by former f3 champion Victor Martins who topped the times. The next to go fastest was current f3 champion Bortoleto as the times continued to drop as the track rubbers in and the drivers dial in.
Picture
Picture
Maloney joined the fight at the top by going 2nd fastest before being beaten by Antonelli and Aron who went 2nd and 3rd fastest till Hauger found his speed and went top with a 1'30.936.
21 minutes on the clock Bortoleto fastest over Martins by just 0.008 before Hauger took back the top spot. Bearman was down in 9th, Jeddah Feature race winner Fittipaldi was 14th followed by Jak Crawford in 17th.
Miyata found the gravel trap in the final chicane spinning and rejoining the track in front of a flying Olli Bearman as Hauger extended his lead over Antonelli in 1st. The Prema seeming to improving again this weekend after a tough 1st couple of  weekends Verschoor found his way up to 4th fastest as we entered the final 15 minutes of the session.
12 minutes to go most cars returned to the pits to prepare for their final runs and to dial the cars in for Qualifying later this afternoon.
Fittipaldi and Crawford still found themselves down in 15th & 17th despite their strong weekends in Jeddah.
8 minutes to go Marti was out of the car and would take no further part in the session as Aron in his Hitech car had a very similar incident to his team mate who brought out a Red flag at the beginning of the session by locking up and spinning into the gravel of turn 1 which he unlike his team mate managed to escape.
Hadjar set a great lap to go 2nd as we entered the final 5 minutes of practice, rookie O'Sullivan was 9th fastest, in front of Ollie Bearman in 10th.
3 minutes to go the 2nd Red Flag of the 45 minute session was waved for Rafael Villagomez who  outbreaked himself into turn 1 causing him to spin and end up going backwards toward turn 2, initially he kept the car running but it was short lived and the session did not resume once his car had been recovered.

Qualifying

All the cars were straight out to try and set a banker lap to protect against red or yellow flags ruining their laps later in the session. The Prema cars looked on much better form than they started the year in Bahrain.
24 minutes on the clock Martins brought out the first yellow flags and then Red flag of the session, as he took to much kerb at turn 7 which just like Albon destabilized the car and sent him spinning into the wall and out of Qualifying, Zane Maloney narrowly avoided collecting Martins were he came to rest after his crash. Mean while Crawford & Villagomez found the grass at turn 1 but managed to continue.
Picture
Picture
Running resumed with 24 minutes on the clock and no times on the board, the pressure to get a banker lap in just incase of another Red Flag or Yellow flag interruption was higher than ever.
Maini was the first across the line to set a lap, Maloney followed immediately going faster than Maini, Antonelli was also on a great lap feeling much happier in his Prema and going top of the times for the moment. Hauger & Aron were going faster again than Antonelli with Aron going fastest and Hauger 2nd.
Crawford caught the wall at turn 5 causing him a puncture and a trip back to the pits.
Maloney's next attempt was a rapid one but he bailed into the pits not completing the lap as Maini did finish his and put himself top. That again was short lived as Antonelli went fastest again before he was beaten by Bortoleto and then Aron. It was a really close battle at the sharp end of the F2 grid to take pole today and the top spot would change hands a lot more before the session ended.
14 minutes left of Qualifying and we saw most of the cars return to the pits to prep for their final runs, Aron, Hauger and Hadjar were the top 3, Malone was down in 10th despite bailing on a really fast lap, Bearman after being caught out by the first Red Flag and mixed up in traffic was down in 12th hoping for a similar result to Jeddah were he stuck his Prema on Pole before being promoted to the f1 for the weekend.
10 minutes to go and cars began to file out of the pits fueled for multiple laps and praying for a clean end to the session. Maloney was the first of the front runners to set his lap going fastest of all just in time for the 2nd Red flag of the session, caused by Jak Crawford, who didn't make the corner at turn 12 and ploughed through the gravel trap and into the barrier.
Bearman got punished by the Red flag again as he was forced to bail on a fast lap when the running was stopped, Maini, Hauger,  and many others also were on a decent laps and lost their chance to improve and all needed to take a chance in the closing 4 minutes of action.
1 minute 42 were left on the clock when the final timed runs started, Bortoleto lead the grid around, pushing the car and the cold tyres round the rapid street track to try and claim pole, Maini didn't improve in sector 1, Antonelli was improving on his lap, Bearman was in a lot of traffic further back as Bortoleto went sideways through the gravel trap and almost collected his team mate who just seconds later took the top spot briefly before Antonelli went top and Enzo Fittipaldi hit the wall hard after leaving the track at turn 10. Hauger was the last man on a fast lap and it paid off for him. He improved his time by half a second and took Pole by over 3 tenths from Antonelli.

Official F1 Journal Formula 2 Feature Race Round Up

Before the race even started there was controversy with Maloney and O'Sullivan being investigated after the race for an unsafe release in the Pitlane and Barnard not making it off the line for the formation lap and had to be pushed back to the pits and would start from there. Along with the promotion of Maini to Pole after Bearman was called up to Ferrari to replace Sainz who was rushed to hospital on Thursday night with Appendicitis.

Feature Race

Most of the grid have chosen the faster soft tyre to start on, and as the lights went out Maini was away well while team mate Bortoleto got a terrible launch(retiring a few laps later), Antonelli got a great start as a Redbull livery car of Marti spun out of the race at turn 5 and Stanek was also out on the first lap after being caught by the spinning car of Marti, bringing out a Safety car on lap 1.
The top 5 at the safety car were Maini 1st, Crawford 2nd, Fittipaldi 3rd, Antonelli 4th and Victor Martins down 2 places to 5th. Maloney only managed to gain 2 places off the start and as the Safety car continued to lead the pack around Hauger and Hadjar in 6th & 7th were in a great spot to push forwards on the restart
Picture
Picture
Lap 4 the track went green with Maini at the front, he held onto the lead into the 1st corner with no changes behind him on the road. Antonelli was straight onto the back of Fittipaldi for 3rd as DRS was enabled.
Maini was putting as much space between himself and Crawford in 2nd, breaking the DRS after just 1 lap from the restart. Fittipaldi and Antonelli were closing on Crawford, dropping Martins who in 5th was defending from Hadjar who had passed Hauger the lap before. (Miyata was handed a 10 second stop go penalty for an  incorrect starting position.)
Lap 7 Crawford and Hauger pit, with Vershoor Aron and Miyata also making their stops.
Correa caught Martins rapidly and passed him just before Martins pit on lap 8 with leader Maini and 2nd & 3rd place Fittipaldi and Antonelli, who  all passing Crawford dropping him to 4th after the stops. He rapidly caught the top 3 on cold tyres making an attempt to pass Antonelli who shut the door and kept him behind in turn 11, but Crawford made his way past at turn 13, dropping the Prema to 5th and into the path of Hadjar who briefly passed the Antonelli but couldn't keep the place and stayed 6th

Lap 11 of 28 Hadjar got passed Antonelli for 5th with nothing the young Prema driver could do to keep him behind as Miyata pits again with car troubles and the team having to restart the car before he could rejoin. After passing Antonelli Hadjar was straight on the back of Crawford hunting down 3rd position after all the stops were complete.
Lap 13 Maloney was inside the top 10 as Fittipaldi destroyed the gap to Maini in the middle sector and made a move for the net lead, with the Invicta driver having nothing to fight back with and being forced into 2nd with Crawford just 3 seconds down the road.
Martins continued his drop down the standings to 12th with Colapinto to be the next man past him, the ART again struggling with tyre degradation over a race distance

Lap 15 over half race distance gone and Colapinto spun into turn 1, losing the engine, angry at himself for tapping the wall at turn 27 causing a puncture and the spin into turn 1.
Safety car number 2 was brought out for the incident giving all those who had waited to pit like Cordeel a free stop, mixing up the standings for the rest of the race. Correa who was on the alternative tyre strategy to most(starting on Mediums not Softs), chose not to pit on his 1st trip through the pitlane before he was picked up by the safety car in the lead of the race but 2nd place man Cordeel did stop and would not need to pit again in the race unlike Correa who was banking on a late Safety car to make his strategy work.

Picture
Lap 19 and Correa lead the pack round to restart the race. Fittipaldi was straight past Barnard at turn 1 for 3rd, Maini and Crawford went side by side into turn 3, Maini keeping 5th Hadjar was forced to pull off with an engine problem putting him out of the race and promoting Antonelli to 7th.
Cordeel was catching Correa getting within DRS range on fresher rubber while Fittipaldi was gaining on them fast.
Lap 21 Cordeel takes the lead into turn 1 with Maini passing Barnard for 4th just behind, Fittipaldi was a man possessed, passing both Correa and Cordeel between turns 27 and 1, Antonelli went along side Crawford into turn 1 but was forced to the run off with Crawford doing the same, Barnard's day was getting worse as he was passed by Maloney and dropped to 9th.
Lap 23 of 28 Maini & Crawford started to really catch Correa and Cordeel as the 2 swapped places and Cordeel lost out to Maini as well in his attempt to get soft tyres to the end of the race as a Virtual Safety car was called while the car of Zak O'Sullivan was recovered from the track after he spun at turn 2.

Cordeel tried to come back at Maini but couldnt make it stick, Aron and Martins came together both spinning into the run off and being passed.
Lap 26 Correa finally pit releasing Maini into 2nd Cordeel 3rd and Crawford and Antonelli 4th & 5th being chased by Hauger. Fittipaldi had an almost 6 second lead over Maini as the penultimate lap started, Hauger passed Antonelli in a last ditch push for a podium in the MP car.  Cordeel was hanging onto the DRS of Maini ahead to protect himself from a very aggressive Crawford behind trying to get on the podium. Hauger passed on Cordeel & Antonelli on the last lap after Crawford had passed Cordeel for 3rd. Managing to catch and pass Crawford as well literally over the finish line as the Chequered Flag was waved.
Fittipaldi won the Feature race after a brilliant drive winning his 1st F2 race of 2024. Hauger and Crawford crossed the line together, Hauger taking the last spot on the Podium by only 0.031 of a second showing how happy he was with his last 2 laps over the radio to the team. Maini who started on Pole brought it home in 2nd showing some great on track moves to get there.  Maloney was closing on Antonelli at the end going from 15th to 7th in the Feature race.
Another absolutely brilliant F2 Feature Race!!! You couldn't look away for a second.

Before the action got going on track there where 2 headlines, 1/ The over night promotion of Bearman to F1 in the Ferrari, replacing Carlos Sainz who is in hospital with Appendicitis,, Prema will only run 1 car for the rest of the weekend. 2/ The delay to the formation lap for track repairs

Sprint Race- Saudi Arabia

Antonelli got a bad start that dropped him to 12th, Aron held onto 1st, but yellow flags came straight out with damage to Martins car visible before the Safety car was deployed. Martins was out of the race with damage to the front right corner of his car after contact with Hauger, Antonelli made contact with the rear of Crawford at the exit of turn 2, Cordeel and O'sullivan were both pushed back to the pit lane to be  restarted and rejoin the race from the back. Lots of debris on track that needed to be cleared.
Lap 5 Racing got going again with Aron running early at the front to try and build a gap to Vershoor before the 1st corner. Maloney and Fittipaldi had a look in to turn 1 but both thought better of a lunge off the restart. Aron held the lead round the first lap after the Safety car with Maloney beginning his push forward up to 8th as he passed Stanek. Vershoor wasn't letting Aron get away, keeping the gap under a second and in DRS range. Hadjar in 3rd was falling back from the leading pair, Hauger and Maini both hunting him down.
Lap 8 turn 1 was a full of overtakes with Vershoor making a late lunge up the inside of Aron for the lead, Fittipaldi passing Maini into 5th, Maloney gaining another place to go 7th past Marti and Crawford passed Stanek.

Lap 9 Vershoor had DRS on Aron who was over a second ahead of 3rd place Hadjar. But Hauger wasn't happy with 4th and passed Hadjar to try and chase down the top 2.
Lap 10 another Safety car for Cordeel whos car had stopped on track and needed help to be recovered, thus negating Vershoors 1 second lead over Aron and putting the pack back together for a 2nd safety car restart.
Lap 12 and we were racing again, Vershoor got away well from Aron but Maini found himself with Maloney coming past him into turn 1. Crawford had a good look at Marti but couldn't get past and by the end of the lap Vershoor was back to over a second out in front. Hauger kept Hadjar behind in 4th off the restart but Fittipaldi had his 1 mirror(1 had fallen off) mirror full of Championship leader Zane Maloney. Crawford got past Marti on lap 13 while Durksen, Barnard and Bortoleto were having a great battle for 12th behind Antonelli. Crawford was on the move again on lap 14 passing Maini in the Invicta car at turn 27 as Fittipaldi stole 4th from Hadjar with  Maloney rapidly approaching followed by Crawford.
5 laps to go Vershoor was 1.3 clear of Aron, Crawford and Maloney went wheel to wheel with Crawford winning the fight with a stella move through 22 & 23 but the fight continued all the way to turn 1 with Maloney taking back 6th down the start finish straight giving Hadjar some breathing space.  Lap 16 More yellow flags with debris on track in a poor visibility spot on track after Correa tagged the wall breaking his wing and causing his retirement and a Virtual Safety car was briefly brought out to retrieve the debris. Lap 17 Hauger had closed on Aron as the V/C ended and he passed him down to the first corner to take 2nd.
Lap 19 Maloney had dropped Crawford but caught Hadjar and passed him with just 2 laps to catch Fittipaldi for 4th. Hadjar race was ended shortly after as he began to drop down the standings ending in the pits before the Chequered Flag fell. Aron found his speed at the end closing Hauger back down desperate to reclaim 2nd but it just wasn't possible and he stayed 3rd. Maloney went from 15th-5th in a very strong recovery drive and Antonelli got his first sprint race points in 7th.

Practice- Very Windy      Track temp-52º  Air Temp 27º

The session started with cars straight out on track and a very quick Virtual Safety car test, Franco Colapinto was straight out and putting lots of laps in along side Paul Aron who despite a difficult qualifying in Bahrain had a strong Feature race finishing 3rd at his debut F2 weekend.
O'Sullivan very briefly brought out yellow flags for a moment in the mid corner of turn 16 but carried on.
Maloney who dominated the first weekend of the year in Bahrain winning both races, went top of the times on his first time of trying with a 1'45.811 ahead of Beaman by half a second.
32 minutes on the clock and we started to see lots of times deleted for track limits at turn 22. Including Colapinto, Antonelli and Martins.
31 on the clock, Red flag for Villagomez who hit the exit barrier of turn 13/14 HARD in  his Van Amersfoort car. He was fine but took no further part in the only Practice session of the weekend as the clock continued to count down while they recovered the car.

The track went green with 17 to go and the field were straight out to make the most of the time they had left to dial themselves and their cars into this extremely difficult  street track before Qualifying just hours later.
Olli Bearman was doing his best in his struggling Prema car, pushing it up to and beyond its ability, finding the kerbs and almost the wall with his aggressive driving style. Hauger bested Maloney for the top spot on their first laps after Red Flag before Martins, Maini and Aron went faster than Maloney but none could beat Hauger's time.
10 minutes to go Martins was purple in sector 1 as the Qualifying Simulation runs began in earnest. Martins couldn't beat Hauger's most recent lap and went 2nd.
Bearman & Antonelli put themselves inside the top 10 showing some improvement from the Prema team already.
Hauger who topped the times with 7 to go was clearly very happy in his MP car, Correa and team mate Crawford went 4th & 5th showing pace in the DAMS car as Martins had another crack at beating Haugers fastest lap but couldn't find the time in sector 3.
Miyata was struggling down in 19th with 3 minutes on the clock joined by O'Sullivan(16th) and Hadjar in 21st all struggling with Hadjar out of the car before the session ended while the team try to fix an issue.
Martins purple sector 1 again and despite an average middle sector finally beat Hauger's time for 1st for about 30 seconds before Hauger set another stonking lap to take the top spot back.
Bearman put together a great lap to go 4th while team mate Antonelli was 9th and the session ended with Colapinto kissing the wall at turn 17.

Qualifying

All the cars came straight out as the lights went green to begin the session, inititally Hauger set the pace like most of Practice till Bearman took the top spot with a 1'43.2 from him, finding his form finally in what has been a troublesome  Prema car. Maini went 2nd fastest followed by Vershoor and Victor Martins in 3rd & 4th. with 19 2 go Maloney had only set a lap to put him 14th as Hauger tops Bearman again  but Martins could not improve on his next time of trying.
Colapinto kissed the wall causing some damage to the front left wishbone. Antonelli had a big lock up into turn1. Aron set a mighty lap to put himself in the mix and 2nd ahead of Bearman.
17 minutes on the clock and Rodin have the body work off the championship leaders car.

2023 F3 champion Bortoleto bailed on his most recent after not improving on his P4 time.
Half the session gone and all but 2 cars are in the pits making their final preparations to the car in their hunt for Pole. Maloney needed to improve down in 17th, so stayed out while the others are in the pits after he lost time earlier having changes made this only helped him up to 14th. Maloney is not the only Rodin struggling with Miyata also not happy in Jeddah down in 20th
7 minutes on the clock and all the cars are out on track and looking for space to set their lap. With the track temperatures and the wind speed dropping the cars were only getting faster. 1st man to cross the line Stanek tops the times, Bearman had a great 1st sector as his team mate goes 2nd fastest till Aron takes the top spot. Bearman purple in sector 2, Martins went 2nd fastest and as Bearman crossed the line and went fastest by 0.421 till Maini got the closest of anyone just 0.025 slower than Bearman in the Prema, with time for them all to set another lap!
Hauger, Martins, Aron and Stanek all improving on their 2nd laps, Fittipaldi went up to 4th, Aron couldn't improve, Crawford went up to 3rd. Bearman didn't improve on his last lap with Maini going faster still, but Maini couldn't get it done in the last sector and Bearman took Pole in Saudi Arabia. What a difference a week has made for Prema and Olli Bearman
