© Formula 2 Several drivers struggled throughout today's qualifying session in Monza, resulting in two red flags and plenty of action. Oliver Goethe, who has stepped up for recent Formula One graduate Franco Colapinto, continued to struggle adapting to the car and the circuit. As he was about to begin his first flying lap, he went wide into turn one, forcing him to take the escape road. Even as the session continued, Goethe still struggled, spinning on the circuit as a result of going wide into turn two. Isack Hadjar was complaining on the radio after being impeded by Stanek. He was noted for the impeding, but it is unsure whether any action has been taken on the incident. The first red flag came out due to lots of debris on the track joined by a polystyrene board. This was caused by Victor Martins going wide through a gravel trap between the two Lesmos. The session resumed a few minutes later after the conditions were suitable enough for the drivers. Due to this red flag however, 3 minutes was deleted off of the clock because of Formula One FP2 taking place not long after the Qualifying session. Not long after the session was resumed, championship contender Gabriel Bortoletto went into the gravel which resulted in the second red flag of the session. After four minutes, the session resumed once again with only 10 minutes remaining on the clock. 5 minutes remained on the clock, and the majority of the drivers opted to continue building tyre temperature rather than setting lap times. Not long after, with only 3 minutes remaining of Qualifying, drivers began putting times on the board. Championship leader Isack Hadjar set the fastest sector one and continued to fly throughout the rest of the lap, resulting in him taking provisional pole with a time of 1:32:249. Maloney then crossed the line moments later to steal provisional pole from Hadjar with a spectacular time of 1:32:160. As the rest of the drivers cross the line, they are unable to beat Maloney's time, resulting in The Boy from Barbados taking his maiden pole position.
