Dino Beganovic to race for DAMS for final two rounds of 2024 season

Ferrari Academy driver Dino Beganovic has been signed by DAMS Lucas Oil for the final two rounds of the 2024 championship, the team announced on November 7.

Beganovic will graduate to FIA Formula 2 to partner American Jak Crawford for the remaining two rounds at Qatar and Abu Dhabi and will replace the outgoing Juan Manuel Correa, who has been operating the #8 car for the majority of the 2024 season.

The 20-year old will be the second driver of Prema's 2024 formula 3 lineup to make their Formula 2 debut, following Gabriele Mini, who made his debut for Prema's Formula 2 team back in Baku in September. 

DAMS Lucas Oil have taken him on board for the final two rounds of the season and it was announced by them and Formula 2 media on November 7, as part of a busy week of Formula 2 news. Beganovic's announcement came a day after Gabriel Bortoleto was announced to be at Kick Sauber for the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship.

Speaking to formula 2 media on his signing for DAMS, Beganovic said: "I can't wait to make my Formula 2 debut with DAMS Lucas Oil, who has so much history as well as tremendous drive to achieve great results.

"This feels like the natural next step in my career, and I'm ready for the challenge in an extremely competitive championship."

Juan Manuel Correa will bow out of the series after an emotional return to the podium in 2024, the first since that horrendous accident in 2019 in Belgium, at Spa Francorchamps. It was a crash that saw the tragic death of Anthoine Hubert and the horrendous injuries that Correa suffered. Correa got the podium in Spain, in a double podium for the team.

Beganovic will come into replace him and will partner Crawford in the final two rounds of the 2024 Formula 2 Championship.

On the signing of Beganovic, speaking to Formula 2 media, DAMS Lucas Oil Team Owner Charles Pic said :"We're excited to take on a talent like Dino for the remainder of the season.

"It's a step up from Formula 3 and a very competitive championship, but we're confident that with the help of the team Dino can be competitive in the final two rounds. He has an excellent racing CV, and we believe he has what it takes to fight for strong points.

"I would like to thank JM [Correa] for his efforts this season, it was a pleasure to work with him and we wish him all the best for the future."

​Beganovic will make his Formula 2 debut in Qatar, at the Losail International Circuit with action getting under way for free practice on November 29.
