Young Italian racer and Alpine Academy prospect Gabriele Mini has been confirmed to be driving for Prema Racing in the 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship - the team announced on Monday. Mini was involved in an enthralling Formula 3 championship fight in 2024 which earned him a lot of plaudits despite him finishing runners up. It was a well hard-fought championship that unfortunately just did not fall his way. The 19-year old would make his Formula 2 debut, in a one-off round at Baku, Azerbaijan where he was deputising for British talent Oliver Bearman who was taking the place of the banned Kevin Magnussen at Haas. Mini showed impressive speed as he partnered fellow Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli for that round specifically. Prema and Formula 2 would announce Gabriele Mini's signing on Monday afternoon via social media and it would reveal him as the first of Prema's two drivers in their 2025 FIA Formula 2 lineup. Speaking to Formula 2 and Prema media, on him racing with the team in 2025, Mini said: "Very happy to be joining Prema in FIA F2 and to keep working together for another season. "We showed excellent potential and speed throughout the whole year in Formula 3. After the great run at Baku, I hope we will keep working that way to try and fight at the front end of the championship again. "I'm grateful for the opportunity and I want to thank All Road Management, Alpine, and everyone involved." Mini will make his return to FIA Formula 2 at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia for the opening round of the 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship. Brandon Whiteside
