Sami Meguetounif makes step up with Trident to complete their all-rookie 2025 Formula 2 lineup10/12/2024 Formula 3 race winner Sami Meguetounif will take another step in feeder series with Trident as he will drive for the team in the 2025 Formula 2 Championship - the team announced on Monday. Meguetounif will be the second of the Formula 3 Trident lineup to graduate to Formula 2 alongside Leonardo Fornaroli, who was that year's champion of Formula 3. The 20-year old will complete Trident's Formula 2 lineup and will continue his Formula 1 support series journey with the Italian outfit. Meguetounif will partner fellow Formula 3 graduate Max Esterson. Meguetounif was announced to be part of Trident's Formula 2 lineup by the team and Formula 2 media on Monday afternoon via social media, two days prior to the post-season testing three-day test in Abu Dhabi at the Yas Marina Circuit. Speaking to Formula 2 and Trident media on signing for the team in Formula 2 for 2025, Meguetounif said: "I am very happy and excited to make my debut in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Team Trident. "When I made my debut in Formula 3 with the Italian team twelve months ago, I did not think I would grow so quickly." Meguetounif concluded: "I can't wait to take part in Formula 2 post-season tests and enter a new phase of my career." Meguetounif picked up two wins in his rookie season of the FIA Formula 3 Championship both coming in Italy. Both wins came in Italian feature races, with the first at Imola and the second came in the season finale race at Monza. The French racer will make his race debut at Albert park in Melbourne, Australia in March but will first compete in post-season testing to get up to speed with Formula 2 machinery in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
