Two Free Practice sessions in a row that Cupra Kiro's Dan Ticktum has ended quickest to kick start round six of the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Monte Carlo.

Ticktum had topped the earlier Free Practice 1 session to start a very busy Saturday of Formula E action at the start of two rounds in two days, for this double round weekend at the infamous Circuit De Monaco.

British driver Ticktum was fastest in a 1-2 of British drivers, with Andretti driver Jake Dennis finishing in second place. Meanwhile, completing the top three was Mahindra's Edoardo Mortara.

With four sessions on Saturday and three on Sunday, for rounds six and seven respectively, it is set to be a tough weekend for the teams and drivers including championship leader Oliver Rowland of Nissan. Rowland leads the championship by 15 points to Antonio Felix Da Costa in second.

How Free Practice 2 unfolded for round six in Monaco

Following a short break following Free Practice 1 earlier, it was time for Free Practice 2 to begin round six in the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, which begins the start of two rounds in two days across the double weekend.

So far this weekend it had been Dan Ticktum the driver to beat, as the British Cupra Kiro driver set the fastest lap with a 1:27.511. He was hoping to continue on in the same fashion. Reigning champion Pascal Wehrlein got very close to Ticktum, but was four thousandths of a second shy at the end of Free Practice 1.

The beginning of the second Free Practice of the day began with many drivers piling out of the pit lane and onto the iconic Circuit De Monaco in Monte Carlo. This was another 30-minute session which continued the build up to the round six E-Prix of the 2024/25 season.

It was a busy circuit in the opening phase of the session with 20 of the 22 drivers om circuit in the opening six minutes.

Reigning champion Pascal Wehrlein was the driver who set the benchmark lap time with a 1:29.592.

Wehrlein went top with that lap time by 0.037 to championship leader Oliver Rowland in second place. However, Wehrlein would not stay there for very long as Jean-Eric Vergne beat that time by almost a tenth with a 1:29.495.

Despite him dropping down to third momentarily with Robin Frijns going provisionally quickest, Wehrlein returned to the top of the time sheets but only for a minimal time as Oliver Rowland emerged to the top of the times with a 1:28.993.

However, Rowland was beaten by over a second by fellow British driver Sam Bird, who went quickest overall for NEOM McLaren. Wehrlein was down to third place and was two tenths behind Rowland in third.

Wehrlein and Rowland returned to the top two positions once again with Rowland going a tenth quicker than Wehrlein with a 1:27.155. NEOM McLaren had their drivers in the top five nearing the halfway point, with Taylor Barnard up to third and Bird in fifth.

Dan Ticktum was very impressive in the opening practice session and set the fastest time. With 12 minutes to go it was the Cupra Kiro of Dan Ticktum who went fastest by almost four tenths of a second with a 1:26.779.

Jaguar had a difficult session in Free Practice 1 and were 17th and 22nd respectively but Mitch Evans, last year's Monaco E-Prix winner showed the car had some pace. He went second fastest but was still three tenths behind Ticktum, who was still fastest.

The session saw little challenge towards the top time from Dan Ticktum and ended Free Practice 2 fastest just like he had ended Free Practice 1 just less than an hour prior to the session.

It was a British 1-2 with Jake Dennis in second place for Andretti, with Edoardo Mortara third for Mahindra. Jaguar's Mitch Evans and championship leader Oliver Rowland rounded off the top five by finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

Nyck De Vries finished sixth for Mahindra ahead of reigning champion Pascal Wehrlein finished seventh. Dutch driver Robin Frijns finished eighth for Envision Racing. Antonio Felix Da Costa and Taylor Barnard completed the top 10.

Action is to return for the E-Prix qualifying which will sat the grid for Saturday's E-Prix which is round six of the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
