Wednesday saw day two of pre-season testing in Madrid ahead of racing action in the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

Pre-season testing would be crucial for the teams and drivers as they looked to prepare for the 16-round championship, which sees the first race commence on December 7 - at Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Jake Hughes in his new Maserati machine was top in the morning with a time that eclipsed Antonio Felix Da Costa's time of 1:29.220, which was the fastest lap time in Tuesday's only testing session.

Hughes would set a 1:28.604, which would be a far better time than Da Costa's best time of session one. It would be a British 1-2-3 with Jake Dennis in second with 0.081s separating the 2023 champion from the top spot Kiro Race's Dan Ticktum was third.

Pascal Wehrlein was fourth for Porsche and the reigning champion was above Stoffel Vandoorne who made it two Maserati cars inside the top five. NEOM McLaren's Sam Bird was sixth ahead of the DS Penske of Maximilian Gunther was seventh, with session one's fastest man Antonio Felix Da Costa in eighth for Porsche.

The second DS Penske of Jean-Eric Vergne was ninth with the second Andretti of Nico Mueller completing the top 10.

Unlike session one, all 22 cars were out on the circuit with the Jaguars of Nick Cassidy and Mitch Evans as well as the two Nissan cars of Norman Nato and Oliver Rowland who made their first appearances in pre-season testing for the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E Campaign.

Track action would return in the afternoon for session three of pre-season testing in Madrid.
