The British Touring Car Championship promised a dramatic climax to this year's title race and it delivered in spectacular style as Jake Hill soared to victory to claim his very first BTCC Driver's championship.
In one of the closes title battles in BTCC history, Hill and 2022 champ Tom Ingram went into the weekend level on points, with As Sutton, Colin Turkington and Dan Cammish all also still considered as outsiders in the hotly-contested battle for the crown.

The race for this year's British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) took more twists and turns this past weekend, on the competition's annual pilgrimage north of the border. A victory for Jake Hill saw him briefly nudge Tom Ingram from the top spot, before Ingram bounced back with a runner-up spot behind former World Touring Car champion Rob Huff in the final outing of the day.
Championship contender Jake Hill turned in another admirable performance to register his fifth win of the season this past weekend as the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) returned to Oulton Park, in a meeting that also saw Tom Ingram finally officially notch up his 30th career victory and Josh Cook break his two-year duck.
A day of bodywork problems saw reigning champion Ash Sutton lose ground in the title race as his nearest rivals leapfrog him as the competition enters it's mid-point summer break. The battle at the top of the British Touring Car Championship Driver's standings took another twist and turn this past weekend as the competition made it's annual visit to Thruxton.
Jake Hill dominated the headlines by following up his double last time out at Snetterton with much of the same, inheriting a victory in race two after on-track winner Tom Ingram was penalised after an incident with Dan Cammish, and putting the Laser Tools Racing man firmly in the thick of the championship battle with reigning champion Ash Sutton, who himself bagged his 40th career victory in the finale race. In yet another BTCC weekend to remember, it was Jake Hill who made the most of the competition's trip to Snetterton as he turns in a monumental qualifying performance on Saturday, leading to a double-win in the first two races on Sunday.
Hill would also find himself in the frame for a potential triple-header as he held onto an impressive lead in the final race, which eventually saw former World champion Rob Huff secure his first victory since 2004, leading home an all-Speedworks podium with Aiden Moffat and Josh Cook. Veteran multi-time former BTCC champion Colin Turkington silenced his critics from last season by topping off a dream weekend with a classic brace of lights-to-flag victories this past weekend at Brands Hatch.
After cruising to pole position in Saturday's 'Quick Six' qualifying session, Turkington's route to victory in Sunday's opening two races barely seemed under threat as he commanded a generous lead over his rivals, on a day that also saw defending and fellow four-time champion Ash Sutton maintain his 100% record of podium finishes with another trio to match his from Donington a fortnight ago. It was to be a day to remember for Team BMW today as a sun-drenched Brands Hatch welcomed the British Touring Car Championship for Round 2 of this year’s competition, with four-time champion Colin Turkington bagging his 28th career pole by topping today’s Quick Six.
After a long winter’s break, it was finally time to go racing this past weekend as the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) marked the start of the 2024 campaign from Donington Park.
The British weather played it’s part in shaking things up at the season opener last year and, with some changes in regulations and a new qualifying format thrown into the mix, the Derbyshire circuit once again gave us a memorable weekend of action. After six long months, BTCC fans countrywide are rejoicing as we can finally once again say, “It’s race weekend!” as the premier tin-top competition starts it’s engines this weekend for the 2024 campaign.
Whilst the winter break is often seen as an arduous affair by all those suffering from touring car withdrawal, this winter break has provided many talking points heading into the new season. So, before we hit the tarmac, let’s take a quick look at what lies in store for 2024! Ash Sutton etched his name in the BTCC history books at the weekend by sealing his fourth championship in the season finale at Brands Hatch, in a monumental day all-round for the newly-named Alliance Racing and NAPA Racing UK.
