Aston Martin Development driver Jak Crawford put pen to paper with his current Formula 2 team DAMS on Wednesday, to re-sign with the team for the 2025 Formula 2 season. The American driver has endured his first season in 2024 with the DAMS team and his second full season competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship after spending 2023 with Hitech. Crawford will now spend a second season with DAMS and potentially will look to aim for the title in 2025. Crawford, 19, has had a win already this season and the the driver will hope to impress once again moving on into 2025 to continue his develop as he looks to continue progressing up the motorsport ladder. DAMS Lucas Oil and Formula 2 announced the re-signing of Crawford for 2025 via social media on Wednesday afternoon which makes Crawford the third driver to be announced for the 2025 Formula 2 grid - after Formula 3 2024 graduates Arvid Lindblad and champion Leonardo Fornaroli. Speaking to the press following the announcement, Crawford said: "I'm really happy to be continuing with DAMS Lucas Oil for 2025 following on from a positive campaign so far in 2024. We've still got two rounds of this season to go as we're pushing for a top five finish." Crawford has one win to his name so far in 2024 but has been a consistent performer throughout the season and has been picking up decent results on many occasions. With two rounds remaining, Crawford sits fifth in the standings with 116 points - 53.5 points off the championship lead. With five podiums and one race victory across the season, it has been an impressive campaign for the American driver and he has shown great development. It will be an important season next year for Crawford and he will be aiming towards the title. Brandon Whiteside

Picture Credits: AutoSport At the start of the race, Kush Maini was unable to get off of the line, which caused an unaware Marti to speed into the back of him. The contact caused Maini to be pushed left which then caused Oliver Goethe to get caught up in the collision. Marti was then flipped over onto his roof and doing a 360, landing back on his wheels. The red flag was brung out immediately and lasted for 25 minutes. All drivers involved in the collision were okay. When the red flag was over and the cars made their way out of the pits to do a rolling start, it was brought to light that Koolen and Villagomez were also out of the race. The green flag waved and Verschoor led. There was contact later on in the lap between Hauger and Browning, causing Browning to lose his endplate. On lap 6, Juan Manuel Correa retired from the race. Lap 7. Durksen, Crawford and Browning all pit. Denis Hauger is given a 5 second time penalty for the contact with Browning on the previous lap. Verschoor, Antonelli, Martins, Hauger, Aron and Miyata all boxed at the end of the lap. Zane Maloney then lead, follwed by Bortoleto and Mini. At the end of the lap, Maloney, Bortoleto, Mansell and Cordeel all pit. Fittipaldi and Mini stay out, still having to make their mandatory pit stop. Maloney and Antonelli then battle later on in the lap, however due to Zane's cold tires he locked up which then caused Antonelli to turn into him which sent him into the escape road. Mini pits at the end of the lap, meaning Fittipaldi and Hadjar are the only drivers left to make their stop. Enzo leads, followed by Hadjar and Verschoor. Fittipaldi boxes at the end of the lap, and Hadjar stays out before pitting at the end of the lap. On lap 14, Gabriele Mini suffered a lockup into turn 15 which caused him to go into the barrier. Yellow flags were waved before the virtual safety car was put into place. Maloney pitted at the end of the lap, and the safety car was deployed. The safety car stayed out for the remainder of the time left, before entering the pits at the end of the last lap allowing the drivers to have a dash to the line. Verschoor crossed the line first, followed by Martins and Antonelli. Gabriel Bortoleto re-takes the championship lead as Hadjar is unable to score points. The first half of the race was clean and not much happened. Debutant Christian Mansell lead into turn one, however Crawford wasn't as lucky as he lost positions to Mini and Durksen resulting in him dropping down to fourth. The lead was shortly changed though as fellow debutant Mini overtook Mansell. Durksen was up into second, and Mansell dropped down into third. A yellow flag was waved not long after as Oliver Goethe went down the escape road at turn 15. All was okay and he managed to rejoin the track safely. Not long after that however, the yellow flag was brought out yet again as Ritomo Miyata was into the barrier. His front left brakes seemed to be on fire. The safety car was deployed and remained out until the end of lap 17. At this time Durksen was in the lead. Mansell made contact with Bortoleto which caused a little chaos from behind, but everything was alright in the end as nobody else was hit or made contact with anyone. Cordeel was hit from behind by Goethe which caused him to remain still on track before turning himself around and continuing. Joshua Durksen remained in the lead throughout all of this, and drove a great few last laps and crossed the line to win his first race in Formula 2! Full Sprint Race results.1) Joshua Durksen

Before the session began, Victor Martins' front left brake was on fire. It was quickly extinguished and everything was okay for him to begin the session. Not much action happened for most of the qualifying session. There was one moment when a yellow flag was brought out not long into the session due to Denis Hauger taking the escape road and remaining there for a few moments before returning safely onto the track. Then, the action began. Around the 5 minute mark, Isack Hadjar locked up and went straight down the escape road into turn one before his teammate Pepe Marti did the exact same thing. Both Campos cars were now out of qualifying with only 4 minutes remaining of the session. It was shortly red flagged before both of the drivers made their was back to the pits. When the session resumed, everyone was desperate to improve their times so they all came surging out of the pit lane in order to do so. Times were being improved all over the place and drivers were moving up and down the order as others crossed the line. However, it was Richard Verschoor who managed to come out on top with only 0.017 seconds separating himself and Kimi Antonelli. Full Qualifying results1) Richard Verschoor / 1:54:857

Roughly 10 minutes later, newly introduced Oliver Goethe was into the barriers at turn 15. The second red flag of the session was then brought out. Lindblad will make the step up and has been the second driver to be confirmed for the 2025 Formula 2 grid after Formula 3 champion Leonardo Fornaroli was confirmed at Invicta Racing on September 3. Lindblad, 17, has moved up to FIA Formula 2 after just one season with Prema in FIA Formula 3, where he was fighting for the title up until the end of the final race of the season at Monza, where he would unfortunately lose out. He would end up being the top rookie and the only rookie who was in contention in the final round as he finished fourth overall. The Red Bull junior driver will make him the third Red Bull junior in succession to sign with the team, as the current lineup in 2024, for Campos, consists of two Red Bull junior drivers - Isack Hadjar and Josep 'Pepe' Maria Marti. Campos announced the news of Lindblad's signing on Thursday morning, less than 24 hours before they take to the track for round 12 of the 2024 Formula 2 Championship at the Baku City Circuit. They announced the news via social media. He is the fifth out of the six drivers that went into the final round competing for the Formula 3 Championship to be promoted to Formula 2 and the second out of the contenders to get a Formula 2 seat for 2025 - behind Fornaroli with Invicta Racing. On the announcement of his seat for 2025 with Campos, in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, Lindblad gave a comment to Campos via their media team, that was published online. Lindblad said: "Super excited to be joining Campos in F2 for 2025. The team has had an amazing season so far and can't wait to start working alongside together. I look forward to be joining the long list of drivers that have raced for the team in the past and be a part of its heritage and the legacy of Mr Adrian Campos. "The team seems very passionate, hungry and motivated to win. They'll give me the tools and knowledge to continue to develop as a driver.as we push each other to improve. I just want to say thank you to everyone at Red Bull, the Junior Team and Campos for the opportunity. I can't wait to get started." Lindblad has not had many years of single-seating racing and made his debut at the age of 15 in the Italian F4 Championship in 2022. He would only compete eight times towards the end of that championship but he would compete full time in the 2023 championship. The British driver would go on to finish third overall in that year's Italian F4 Championship but he would be the rookies' champion. A great achievement for Lindblad. Another achievement of Lindblad's is winning the Macau Formula 4 Race, which also took place in 2023. This year, in his rookie season for Formula 3, he showed his brilliant talent nd skill to win an amazing four times, which was more than any other driver across the season. The four wins included an incredible double at Silverstone, in front of his home crowd to bring himself within touching distance of the championship. Despite not winning the title, it was still a successful Formula 3 campaign for Arvid Lindblad. Overall, he grabbed four wins, five podiums and one fastest lap, which led him to fourth in the standings with 113 points. It can be considered a successful season as Lindblad has earned and raced his way to graduation to Formula 2, which is the next step on the road to F1 and with the talent he has shown so far who knows where he could end up in the future. Lindblad's first Formula 2 weekend will be in March 2025, as it stands, in Melbourne, Australia in support of the opening round of the 2025 Formula One World Championship. Brandon Whiteside
Writer - F1 Journal British driver Zak O'Sullivan, part of Williams Academy, has had to withdraw from the Formula 2 Championship for the remainder of 2024 due to a lack of funding, as announced on Monday, O'Sullivan was in his rookie season of FIA Formula 2 with ART Grand Prix, with Alpine Academy talent Victor Martins as his teammate. After a strong start to life for O'Sullivan, the British driver has had to withdraw due to funding issues. The 19-year old has been replaced by fellow Williams Academy driver Luke Browning, who will make the step up and graduation from FIA Formula 3 after two full seasons in the championship, with Hitech Pulse-Eight. Browning will have the chance to showcase his talents in a Formula 2 car, which could be a perfect opportunity to put himself in the window for a full-time seat for the 2025 season. Williams Racing and ART Grand Prix both announced that Browning would take the place of O'Sullivan on Tuesday evening after O'Sullivan took to social media to announce his withdrawal from the 2024 Formula 2 Championship, on Monday evening. On his Instagram account, O'Sullivan said: "Firstly I want to thank ART GP for all the support they have given me this season. This year we have had some incredible moments, multiple wins and a big highlight of winning the feature race in Monaco. "Unfortunately in our sport, there are more factors at play than just the stopwatch. The simple issue comes down to funding, I won't be able to complete this F2 season with ART GP. "I'm gutted to not be able to show my talents for the rest of the year, but I want to say thank you to all of my sponsors, Williams Racing (where I remain in the Driver Academy) and all of the supporters who are alongside me during this journey. Your support has been invaluable and I can't wait to be able to drive for you and with you again soon." O'Sullivan had made a bright start to his Formula 2 career after the first 11 rounds. The British driver made the step up after finishing runner up in the 2023 FIA Formula 3 Championship in his second season. O'Sullivan would be beaten to the title by Gabriel Bortoleto. Partnering 2023 Formula 2 rookie of the year Victor Martins was always going to be a challenge for O'Sullivan but he had dealt with the challenge very well. O'Sullivan has two wins in comparison to Martins' one. O'Sullivan took victory in Monaco as well as the Belgium sprint race, whereas Martins' only victory came in the sprint race in Barcelona. In terms of the championship standings, 15 points is the difference between Martins and O'Sullivan, with Martins the highest placed driver. O'Sullivan leaves ART eighth in the Teams' Standings. A far from ideal season up to this point for ART. Replacing O'Sullivan at ART will be another British, Williams Academy talent in Luke Browning, who will make the step up after being in an enthralling title fight that would go down to the final feature race of the season at Monza. Browning, 22, is set to make his debut in Formula 2 this coming weekend at Baku after an impressive 2024 so far and we will be looking to prove himself once again under the eyes of the watching world. In his career, Browning first moved into single-seater junior racing back in 2019 in the British F4 Championship. Browning would take until 2020 to win the title, which he did with Fortec Motorsport. Following on from this, Browning would go on to take the 2022 GB3 Championship title with Hitech Grand Prix. Also, up until his Formula 2 career, Browning and has managed to win the 2023 Macau Grand Prix with Hitech. 2023 was when he would make his debut in Formula 3, for Hitech, where he would have a season of learning, with one podium and one fastest lap which saw him end 15th in the overall standings. For the following season, Hitech and Browning would pair up once again and this time he would push on towards the title and he would compete all the way until the last race where he could win it no more. After two wins, two pole positions and three podiums, Browning would put it in a great challenge but would ultimately finish third in the final standings, with 128 points. It will be a tough first round in Formula 2 for Luke Browning with a tricky street circuit like Baku, in support of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. While it is a really tough moment for O'Sullivan, it is vital for Browning that in the remaining three rounds he can show the Formula 2 world what he can do. He will make his weekend debut in free practice on Friday morning. Brandon Whiteside
Writer - F1 Journal Australian driver Christian Mansell was announced to replace Roman Stanek at Trident for the remainder of the 2024 Formula 2 Championship, as announced on Monday. Mansell will make the step up to graduate from Formula 3 to take Stanek's place in partnering Richard Verschoor for the remaining three rounds of the season. The 19-year old from Australia will be making the step up after finishing fifth in the 2024 Formula 3 Championship and was contending for the title heading into the final round at Monza. Following on from this, Mansell will try to prove his worth to the other teams, for a seat in the 2025 Formula 2 Championship next season. He will have a perfect chance at an audition in the remaining final three rounds of the championship in Azerbaijan, Qatar and Abu Dhabi. This was the second driver announcement of Monday, after Gabriele Mini had been announced to replace Oliver Bearman at Prema, for the Baku round only. This will be an opportunity for both drivers to showcase their skills on their journeys to the top and potentially on the road to F1. Mansell moving into the seat means that the partnership between Roman Stanek and Trident will come to an end after almost two full seasons. The Czech Republican driver has managed to take one victory, which came in the Australian sprint race after a post-race time penalty for Isack Hadjar. Stanek, 20, would leave his seat at Trident with his position in the championship being 21st after competing in all 11 rounds of the championship in 2024. The relationship at Trident will come to an end for Stanek after three seasons, with one of the three coming in Formula 3 before his graduation to Formula 2. Trident's team manager Giacomo Ricci spoke to Trident's media about the signing of Christian Mansell, who will come in for his Formula 2 race debut, this coming weekend. Ricci said: "We are extremely delighted to field Australian driver Christian Mansell in the next three rounds of the FIA Formula 2 Championship. I consider him one of the most talented emerging drivers in this year's FIA Formula 3 Championship, where he was in contention until the final round at Monza. "Christian is a complete driver, quick in qualifying, and extremely good at managing tyres and overtaking." After completing his second full season of FIA Formula 3, Mansell will make the step up to FIA Formula 2 and will have a good teammate to compare his performances against. Richard Verschoor is someone who is experienced in the category and sadly has never had the best of luck. Trident will be hoping for better luck with the final three rounds of the season as it has been a bit of a difficult Formula 2 campaign for the team this year sitting ninth overall. Although it is an improvement on 10th in 2023, they will be still hoping to make improvements. Mansell's weekend debut at the Baku City Circuit, in Azerbaijan will commence on Friday morning with the free practice session. Brandon Whiteside
Writer - F1 Journal 2024 FIA Formula 3 championship runner-up and Alpine Academy talent, Gabriele Mini, will make his Formula 2 debut this coming weekend at Baku in place of Oliver Bearman. Mini, after coming so close to winning the Formula 3 title at the start of September, has earned his reward for a fantastic season by making a step up to Formula 2 for the Baku round in place of Oliver Bearman, at Prema Racing. Bearman will be advocating his Formula 2 duties for the second time in 2024, after in march he left Prema to compete for Ferrari in place of Carlos Sainz, who had appendicitis. This time around, Bearman will take Kevin Magnussen's place at Haas as Magnussen is banned for hitting the maximum 12 penalty points. This will be like a practice run for Bearman, who will be driving for Haas in 2025 alongside Esteban Ocon. While this will also be a practice run for Gabriele Mini too, as the young Italian will be looking to take the next step in his progression, of racing in Formula 2 next year. Bearman was announced to be Kevin Magnussen's replacement for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, this coming weekend on Friday, which left Prema in search of a replacement for the round at Baku, as Formula 2 will act as a support series this coming weekend. It would have been a tough decision for Prema, as they would be looking to promote one of their highly talented Formula 3 drivers into the seat. All three drivers would be in the Formula 3 title fight heading into the final round. Either one of Dino Beganovic, Gabriele Mini or Arvid Lindblad could have been given the opportunity to show their capabilities in such a challenging circuit as the Baku City Circuit. In the end, Prema decided to go with Gabriele Mini, who was the highest placed in the standings out of three. On Mini being announced as their driver to partner fellow Italian and more recently F1 bound driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Prema Team Principal Rene Rosin was asked by Prema media what his thoughts were - regarding the decision to promote Mini. Rosin said: "We cannot wait to see Gabriele make his FIA Formula 2 debut. It's very rewarding to see him graduate to the top junior single-seater series after making his very first steps with our team back in 2020. It will be a useful opportunity for both him and the team. "On the other hand, we want to wish Ollie the best in his second Formula 1 start and we look forward to having him back for the final part of the year." There is truth to what Rosin mentioned about the length of the relationship that Prema and Gabriele Mini have had throughout Mini's feeder series career, which as a whole has been what could be viewed as a success. His very first year in single-seaters he would win the Italian F4 championship in some style. Despite only winning four times out of the 20 races he participated in that season, Mini would pick up 12 podiums and it would be his consistency that would help him to the title. It was a competitive championship that saw the likes of Gabriele Bortoleto, Dino Beganovic, Oliver Bearman, Taylor Barnard and even the newly-crowned Formula 3 champion Leonardo Fornaroli. Mini would win the title by 76 points ahead of Francesco Pizzi, a fellow Italian racer, who has also competed in the FIA Formula 3 Championship previously. On his signing to the Prema Formula 2 team, Mini gave a comment to Prema media on him making the step up in place of Oliver Bearman. Mini said: "Very happy to be joining Prema Racing for the FIA Formula 2 event at Baku. We had a strong season in 2024, and we have been fighting for the title until the last corner. Formula 2 is the main option for 2025 so it's also very important to join early at Baku." It will be interesting to see how Mini will get on in his FIA Formula 2 debut weekend at arguably the trickiest circuit on the calendar. Mini has had a great record at street circuits in the past, with winning both of his two Monaco feature races in the FIA Formula 3 Championship. His debut session will be free practice on Friday morning. Brandon Whiteside

A few drivers (Marti, Hadjar, Martins and Hauger) had to take the escape road due to the collision. Hauger is left with a puncture and a damaged front wing. Zane Maloney leads followed by Bearman and Antonelli. The safety car comes out. On lap two, the safety car goes in. Lap 6, Bearman pits along with Martins in an attempt to undercut everyone. They rejoin 20th and 21st. Maloney, Durksen, Hadjar, Antonelli, Crawford, O'Sullivan, Cordeel and Fittipaldi all pit on lap seven. Dennis Hauger loses the rear going into turn one on lap eight. The safety car comes out and Bortoleto, Marti, Verschoor, Villagomez and Miyata all pit under the safety car. The top five (Goethe, Maini, Cordeel, Stanek and Coolen) are all still yet to pit as the safety car comes in at the end of lap 10. Ritomo Miyata is given a 10 second time penalty. On lap fifteen, Bearman makes contact with Correa which results in Correa losing his endplate. Bortoleto overtakes his teammate Maini for the lead of the race. Lap seventeen Correa goes into the pits and retires the car. Miyata is given another penalty (5 seconds) on lap twenty one. Both Bearman and Antonelli fight wheel to wheel whilst Cordeel comes on the radio to report a puncture. He pits on lap twenty four and puts on the super soft compound tire. On lap twenty five, both Goethe and Koolen pit meaning that Maini is the only driver remaining left to pit with only five laps remaining. He pits on lap twenty eight. Gabriel Bortoleto crosses the line on lap thirty to achieve something which is deemed impossible, winning from last. He is the only driver to do so in Formula 2. Maini sets the fastest lap of the race (1:32.717). Full Feature Race results 1) Gabriel Bortoleto
