Its the last race of the 2023 Formula 3 season and with the championship decided after qualifying the rest of the championship places were still open it almost half the grid and i the race had a theme to day it would be 'all or nothing'

Formula 3 Sprint Race

Before the race even got going Pole man Oliver Goethe's throttle got stuck open and he had to park his ailing Trident car on the end of the pit wall causing another formation lap and ending his race before it started.
Collet there for lines=d up on pole but in his 2nd place grid slot, at lights out Collet lead into turn 1 followed closely by Paul Aron fighting for 2nd in the championship who couldn't get the move done before 3rd place man Jonny Edgar was on his eexhaust pipe going side by side with him and ultimately taking 2nd spot from Aron, followed immediately by 2023 Champion Bortoleto pushing Aron to 4th and on the back foot, but was saved by a safety car for the parked car of Franco Colapinto(sprint race winner) after contact with Saucy.
Lap 4 and they went racing again, Collet ran early and kept the lead out of turn 1, Fornaroli made a great move on Zak O'Sullivan infront of his home could, Boya made a similar move on Saucy for 9th and Mansell & Marti have a great battle round the lap.

Lap 5 and the fight for the podium places was heating up, Bortoleto without the pressure of the championship on his back was loving the freedom to race hard and had a few good looks at Jonny Edgar, who was just to good on the brakes at Monza for the champion. and he fell back into the path of Aron and O'Sullivann who went 3 wide into into turn 1 with Bortoleto the big loser having to take to the gravel which saw Aron upto 3rd and O 'Sullivan in 4th. Bortoleto fell back further and ended the race of Saucy after contact at the Ascari chicane put him into the wall and causing a safety car that came out just seconds after Edgar made a move for the lead and took 1st from Collet ......... all that and its only lap 6.
Lap 9 and they went racing again Collet ade a solid attept to take the kead back but Edgar kept the position, Aron went off at the first corner and dropped to the 11th. The lead swaps between Collet and Edgar every time they enter Turn 1 for a number of laps till Edgar started to pull a gap on the 2nd place man, at the same time Taylor Barnard starts his push for the podium. over taking O'Sullivan for 3rd and Bortoleto had found  his speed again just before another safety car was needed when Montoya was out in the gravel after contact.

On the restart Edgar is top, Collet 2nd Barnard in 3rd,O'Sullivan 4th.. O'Sullivan makes great move into turn 1 and takes both Barnard and Collet to go into 2nd place with 14 laps to go and even gets a pretty good look at Edgar before another Safety car period is needed for the car of Marti who was beached in the gravel and the car of Cohen who was out due to an unrelated incident.and also adding his name to the DNF list was Faria who pulled over at the end of the pit wall, needing to be cleared.
The last safety car period ended and the last flurry of action was brilliantly intense down the whole field, O'Sullivan had another crack at the lead but Edgar was off down the road at the restart, Paul Aron and Mansell over took home driver Fornaroli who dropped to 8th and Collet was all over the back of Barnard at every point of the closing lap but just couldn't find a way past British driver.. Edgar had managed the race brilliantly and really deserved the win, O'Sullivan ended the season in 2nd after a few tough races and Barnard completed the all British Podium at Monza. But Italian fans still had reason to celebrate as Italian team Prema won the F3 Constructors Championship.

Sprint Race- Dry

The final Reverse top 12 f3 Sprint race of the 2023 season started with controversy after the 3 Hitech drivers, Montoya, Mini & Browning and the 2 Rodin-Carlin drivers Cohen  &   Simonazzi were disqualified for qualifying and Goethe and Edgar took penalties shaking up the grid.
Off the line Boya takes the lead from Saucy, Aron was hit from behind Marti out braking himself giving Aron picked up a puncture and causing damage to Marti's car that put him in the gravel later in the lap bringing out the safety car. Lap 5 the racing got going again and Boya left it very later to brake away on the restart. Barnard was on the move, with O'Sullivan starting his charge forward as well over taking Tsolov in the first corner at the restart. Floresch made contact with Bedrin at the Ascari chicane but both cars carried on.

Christian Mansell was making moves over taking the 2023 Champion having a grat battle with Tsolov. Goethe by lap 10 who started in 22nd position was up to 8th.
Lap 10 and Colapinto makes a massive move for the lead on Boya at turn 1 followed just down the road by the cars of O'Sullivan and Saucy make contact at the same corner giving Saucy a puncture.
Turn 1 saw and incident between Smith, Montoya and Fredrik, Montoya escaped with no damage the 2 other dropped down the pack, meanwhile Champion winner Bortoleto was upto 3rd, Goethe upto 6th and Boy takes the lead from Colapinto even of it was brief with Franco taking the lead back in 2 laps time. Zak O'sullivan was given a 10 second penalty.

With 5 laps to go Colapinto started to pull away at the front and Taylor Barnard made a great move on Zak O'Sullivan into turn 1 bbut O'sullivan comes back and retains the position pushing Barnard off in the process and Cohen was in the gravel at Ascari.
In the closing laps of the race there were moves on all the way down the grid, Goethe tries a move on O'Sullivan but ends up on the turn 1 run off dropping him to 7th.
Colapinto try as he might couldnt break the tow but luckily was saved by Bortoleto trying to over take Boya for 2nd taking the pressure off the leader.witht he battle for 2nd, 3rd and 4th for Bortoleto, Boya and Barnard as close as the could be right to the flag.
Great race!!!

The Final race of the FIA Formula 3 Championship and Bortoleto comes into the weekend able to win the championship in Qualifying if his closest Championship rival Paul Aron doesn't get Pole today and take to 2 points your get for Pole, also the fight for 2nd is very tight with just 19 points between 2nd and 7th with 37 points available this weekend.

Practice

As the cars made their way out on to a dry track, it was Olli Gray who was the first man to top the times after everyone's first runs with a 1.41.612, just half a tenth in front of Rodin-Carlin  team mate Cohen. Joshua Dufek on his debut for Campos at Monza topped the  times until the clock hit 30 minutes to go and the search for the fastest lap & best slipstream began, causing an entertaining type of traffic with drivers not wanting to lead the pack around as punching a hole in the air for everyone behind, gives away a big speed advantage, as you not only cut a hole in the air you are essentially pulling them along behind you at the same time, so either way it doesn't pay to be in the lead of the pack in  Monza qualifying. Fonaroli made this work the best by setting the best time before Bedrin brought out the first of 2 Red Flags in this session.

Picture
The cars got underway with 16 minutes on the clock but the traffic from all 30 cars on track made getting a lap of Monza right and fast much much harder than it should have been.
Goethe, Aron and Mini managed to hook a fast laps when it counted. Just in time for the 2nd Red flag to be brought out by Boya who spun into the barrier at the last corner ( turn 11) with just 6 minutes to go. The Race Director chose not to restart the session and Goethe took the top spot, followed by the only man who could take the championship from Bortoleto(ended the session in 6th), Paul Aron. But to do so Aron needs to score all of the 37 points available at Monza . It sounds impossible but we have to remember 1/ this is F3 & 2 this is Monza!!!

Qualifying

Qualifying started and other than making a sighter lap to help set the car up none of the teams or drivers were in a rush to get out and it wasn't until 23 minutes to go that we saw any lap times go up on the board but sadly that wasn't to be for most of the field as Cohen brought out the red flag after a spin in traffic on his out lap.
When they got underway again they had 20 minutes on the clock and time was running out for Aron and his chances to keep the championship fight going!
Caio Collet set the fastest time of those who got over the line before the red flag flew again when Dufek on full send during his first Qualifying session took to much curb through turn 8 and ended in the gravel, unable to continue. Again the grid returned to the pitlane.
The light went green with just 11 minutes to go and despite that the only car on track and to set a lap was Goethe, he set the fastest time of qualifying out of sync with the other cars which prove a mistake by the rest of the grid because while making a 2nd run and trying to improve his time, the trident man hit the wall HARD at the 2nd Lesmo corner and brought out the 3rd and final Red flag of the Qualigying session and with just 6 minutes to go the Race Director chose to not restart. Meaning with Goethe on Pole and getting the extra points for Pole position, that meant Aron in 2nd hadn't done enough to keep the championship going to the Sprint Race tomorrow and Bortoleto was the Formula 3 Champion 2023!!!!!!
