18 year-old Oliver Bearman impresses in Ferrari as he replaces Carlos Sainz in Saudi Arabia8/3/2024 Ollie Bearman starts the Saudi Arabian Grand prix in 11th, as he missed out on Q3 by 0.07. Ferrari have called up their reserve and Formula 2 driver to complete their line up as Carlos Sainz will miss out on round two in the championship, after being diagnosed with appendicitis. The Brits debut will make him the youngest, at 18 years 306 days, to start a race surpassing Lando Norris who was 19. Bearman also become the youngest of all time behind Max Verstappen and Lance Stroll. Bearman has put his F2 championship on hold after putting it on pole on Thursday. The Prema driver made his formula two debut last year, becoming a feature race winner and eventually finishing sixth in the championship. After being ill for two days Sainz went into hospital on Friday morning. His Ferrari team said on Friday afternoon: "Carlos is out of surgery. Everything went well and he is now resting at the hospital. We send him our full support for a quick recovery." Bronwen Jones
