Even if they say they’re not, they are Ferrari fans.” Lewi Hamilton believe's Max Verstappen is "on the list" as Mercedes look to replace the 7 time world champion in 2025. However, Verstappen has told reporters intention is to "absolutely to stay with this team because I really enjoy it, and I'm really happy within the team." Verstappen added that "as long as we perform, there is no reason to leave." In February the 7-time world champion announced that he will be joining Ferrari in 2025, after signing a multi-year contract. Hamilton will be departing from Mercedes AMG after 11 years, previously suggesting that he would end his career with the team. This move brings an end to the 17-year long relationship with the manufacturer. “Mercedes has been part of my life since I was 13 years old. It's a place where I have grown up, so making the decision to leave was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make.” Mercedes have struggled to be title contenders over the last two years, as Redbull and Max Verstappen continue to dominate the series, Hamilton’s most recent world title was claimed in 2020. The Brit’s move will leave current Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz, without a seat. The Spaniard, enters his fourth and final season with the Italian team. Sainz starts his 2024 campaign ahead of Charles Leclerc his teammate, finishing 3rd in the season opener, putting himself in the best position for when it comes to looking at his next move. Eight teams in the paddock have seats free for 2025, including the sport’s most dominant team and familiar face to Sainz, Redbull. Mercedes, Aston Martin, Alpine, RB, Williams, Sauber and Haas have also not completed their line ups for the 2025 season. Bronwen Jones
