Singapore really is one of a kind and lead the way for not just future night races but also new street racks all over the world joining the calendar but this year it is also at the centre of the 2008 World Championship controversy. its a race of many disaplines and in 13 races here there have been 5 different winners and its one Max Vertsappen has never won! Will he continue his run of wins or can Perez make it 2 in a row after his 2022 win here?

Track Changes For 2023

.Due to the building of Multi function outdoor events venue the NS Square 4 corners have been removed from the circuit layout.  The Chicane of turns 16, 17, 18 & 19 has been removed and there is now a straight from the unchanged turn 15 down to what used to be turns 20 & 21 or what is now turns 16 & 17.

Random Facts

  • Alonso and Vettel have both scored Grand Slams at Singapore ( Pole, Win & Fastest lap)
  • Redbull have finished on every Singapore podium since 2010
  • 276 cars have started the Singapore Grand Prix and 210 have finished giving it one of the highest finishing averages for the whole F1 calendar with 76% of cars starting crossing the finish line.
  • The first Singapore Grand Prix in 2008 was won by Alonso and the Renault team in one of the most famous cheating scandals the sport has ever seen. Nelson Piquet Jr was instructed by team boss Flavio Briatori and Chief Engineer Pat Simmons to crash into the wall at turn 17(removed for 2023) because there was no crane in that area and it would guarantee a safety car, he agreed to do so with the understanding that he would be resigned to the Renault team for 2009. On lap 13 Renault pit Alonso, lap 14 Piquet crashes into the wall and when everyone else pits Alonso assumes the lead and bish bash bosh Renault win the very first Singapore Grand Prix...............but they didn't resign Piquet Jr and he wasn't happy about it, so he exposed the whole thing to the FIA and the world. Briatori was orginally given a life time ban for participating in any FIA governed motorsport (this was lifted a while ago), Pat Simmons took a short ban but ultimately returned to the F1 pitlane years later. Alonso was allowed to keep the win and the result stood with everyone keeping their points, but this has now become the center of the Massa legal case for having the 2008 championship result changed because the points for this race should never have been given if Renault cheated. We wait with baited breath to see the outcome of this first of it's kind court case. Its important to state that Alonso still denies any knowledge of the events taking place around him ( but didnt question why he was pit 11 laps early) and to this day claims this win as one of his best.
  • 108,423 meters of cable light the Singapore race track
  • The whole F1 paddock stay on European time over the Singapore to avoid the jet lag
