Reverse Grid Proposed for Back to Back Races!

Ongoing discussions by Liberty Media, The FIA and Formula 1 Teams have been trying to figure out a way to spice up race entertainment in the upcoming back to back races.

There is concern that having back to back races at the same track could have a disappointing outcome as should the weather be stable then you could see the same result on the following weekends race.  So there has been a plan to run the Second Race following a sprint race with a reverse grid. This would mean having a 30 minute sprint race instead of Qualifying on the second race weekends Saturday. The order of the race would be determined by the Championship Leaderboard. Say from the first weekends race the winner would start at the back of the grid on the Sprint Race, and the person who finished last would then start First. The sprint race would then determin the grid for Sundays main race.

Christian Horner spoke to Sky Sports F1 earlier saying that All but one team were giving "overwhelming Support" for this shake up but Toto Wolf was concerned that this could have too many variables effecting Lewis Hamilton's 7th World Championship.

Horner said "I think we've got a unique situation this year, and having two races at the same venue - it would seem the perfect time to try something different at that second event. Otherwise, with stable weather conditions, we're likely to have the same output in race two as we have in race one.

"[The proposal] seemed to get overwhelming support. The only person that wasn't particularly supportive of it was Toto because he thought it would interfere with Lewis' seventh world championship campaign, and it would be too much of a variable."

"It's the same for everybody," added Horner. "Having races being at the same venue for two consecutive weekends would be a logical and timely place to introduce and try something."

"I think the prospect of drivers having to race through the field on the Sunday for the feature race, having to start from the back of the grid based on championship position, I think would be something really entertaining for the fans, something positive for Formula 1 and something we really shouldn't be afraid of trying."

What do you think should happen? Should we change the format of race weekends for Back to Back races? If we don't shake things up are will Formula 1 fans be faced with the potential of seeing the same race twice?

Let us know what you think.

A superb idea. Well I think so anyway. Should of guessed it would be Toto who would object. It will be very boring if they dont
