The creators of this new age, high speed track are ex-F1 driver Alex Wurz and established circuit designer Herman Tilke in the hopes of establishing Qiddiya City as the new home of Saudi motorsport and one of the world's leading motorsport venues. In 2020 Saudi Arabia signed a ten-year contract with Formula One to host a race in the country from 2021 onwards and with the track expected to be finished in 2027 we will for now continue to race in Jeddah.
