Toto not feeling "Cornered"....

Lewis Hamilton looks set to wrap up his 7th World Championship this weekend but the Champion hasn't wrapped up his new contract with the dominating team.

Toto has previously mentioned that they will look to conclude everything after Hamilton has wrapped up the championship. When asked if they were feeling cornered now that Hamilton is about to equal Schmacher's record he explained;

“No, not at all cornered. It’s a good dependence on each other; we would like him in the car, and I think he wants to drive the Mercedes because it’s competitive, so no, I think there is a good balance,”

He also said that he is not going to give away a date just yet other wise he will be bombarded with the same question every race.

“Yeah, I don’t want to drop a date here because if I do everybody’s going to ask at every single race, but this is what we agreed,” he said. “I think it was important to make sure we had both titles secured and then have a more relaxed approach to the discussion about the future."

Wolf's position at Mercedes is another talking point of the grid as to whether or not he stays in his current position.

“I believe that each of us has a certain shelf life as a team principal because it’s simply not sustainable to do a few hundred races and be the best [version of] you that started on the journey,” he said.

“It is a job that involves being in an aeroplane, on 20 or so races, and coming back on Monday you have an office job. And I dd 250 hotel nights last year and 500 hours of flying and it is certainly not something that I want do for the rest of my life. But I take enjoyment in what I do and I certainly don’t want to step away from the Mercedes team,” he explained.

Hamilton recently said in an interview that he doesn't know what his future holds. Is this him just being Magnanimous or is he planning an exit from a sport he has dominated for the past 7 years. He has a team set up in Extreme E, Electric SUV Off Road Racing, which starts next March. How will he be able to run a team while competing for his 8th Championship next year. Or does he stay on to further cement his position in the history books by winning a further 1 or 2 championships? What do you think?
